A ^Retired Plastic Surgeon's Notebook

Does this mean that I am a Professor?

Seattle Plastic Surgeon is thrilled to be involved in plastic surgical education.

Who learns more in surgical education, the teacher or the student?

Who learns more in surgical education, the teacher or the student?

Our office has been chosen by the University of Washington to help provide training for their Chief Residents in their highly acclaimed Plastic Surgery Program.  These surgical residents are months away from finishing up their 6 or 7 years of post medical school training and going out into practice.

One thing really lacking in most academic programs like the UW’s is private practice experience.  I remember how many things I did not know that I did not know about private practice when I finished my academic program at the University of Cincinnati.  I used to think that accounts receivable equaled income.  HA!

I know these bright young surgeons will learn a lot in our office and I also know that we will learn a lot from them.  After all, education is always a two way street.

Thanks for reading!
