Real women dance at the Moisture Festival

Queen sized belly dancerSeattle Plastic Surgeon Highly Recommends the Moisture Festival.

Last night my husband took me a show at Seattle’s Moisture Festival for my birthday. The Moisture Festival (http://www.moisturefestival.com/) is a series of zany stage productions that combine burlesque, comedy, music, acrobatics, and every kind of bizarre performance art you can think of. This aptly named festival occurs during our wet Seattle spring when we’ve all just had about enough of the rain, thank you very much. My spirits always soar at these shows and my sides ache from laughter. (My children will no longer attend with us because I laugh so loud, it embarrasses them).

This year, the second act was a dance troupe of ladies who ranged from skinny minnies to queen size and from twenty-something to AARP material and they were all totally fab. They were dressed in various fantasy garb which included the Star Trek Babe, the Mission Impossible Babe, the 007 Babe, the Swedish Housewife Babe, The Belly Dancer Babe, etc. The woman with the best moves reminded me of miniskirted Ricki Lake in the original “Hairspray” movie, only 20 years older. She had great timing and her body was in perfect sync with the music. She had this awesome hip rattle just in sych with the percussionist’s latino sounds.

I doubt if I’ll be seeing her for any liposuction anytime soon. She looks like she’s living the dream just the way she is! You go girl.

Thanks for reading!  Dr. Lisa Lynn Sowder
