CAST Liposuction for Heavy Upper Arms
Heavy upper arms can be a significant problem for some patients, making
clothing selection difficult and even interfering with some activities.
The standard treatment for heavy upper arms is an upper arm lift,
also known as brachioplasty. This procedure is effective in improving
contour but at the expense of a long scar on the inner aspect of the
upper arm. Some patients may find that the scar is as limiting as
the upper arm heaviness.
CAST Liposcution refers to a new technique of liposuction that can
slim out the upper arm and also induce shrinkage of the skin making
an incision and resultant scar unnecessary in some patients. The liposuction
is done circumferentially and, in some areas, close to the skin surface
to induce shrinkage. Patients need to wear special compression sleeves
for several weeks after this surgery to help the skin shrink.
I have found CAST liposuction to be very useful for certain patients.
If you have the problem of heavy upper arms, I will evaluate you and
determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.
