Reduction and/or Lift of the Mons Pubis

Reduction and/or Lift of the Mons Pubis according to Seattle Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Lisa Lynn Sowder

This procedure really isn’t new but I have been doing it more often the past few years. I think the increased demand is related to the tighter clothing women are wearing.  Even in Seattle, the Grunge Capital, women are wearing more form fitting clothing. Usually women who have an enlarged or saggy mons pubis have had children but occasionally I see a young woman with this problem. The treatment is either liposuction or actual reduction and lifting through an incision just above the pubic hair line.  If there is a lot of excess skin, I sometimes also reduce the mons vertically which leaves a T incision and scar in the hair bearing area.  Patients wear a tight support panty for about three weeks after the procedure to reduce post-operative swelling. The scars usually heal well and, for most patients, they are located “where the sun don’t shine”.
